2025 Grammys: The Most Competitive Album of the Year Race Yet

Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter, and more—who will take home the biggest award of the night?

The 2025 Grammys are shaping up to be one of the most competitive in recent memory, particularly in the Album of the Year category. With pop icons, rising stars, and musical innovators all in the mix, there’s no clear front-runner this time around.

Taylor Swift is back in the race with The Tortured Poets Department, a record-breaking album that dominated the Billboard 200 for 17 weeks and boasted one of the biggest first-week sales in history. If sales were the sole deciding factor, she’d likely be a lock—but this category has long been one of the most unpredictable.

Then there’s Beyoncé, who’s again vying for her first-ever Album of the Year win. Cowboy Carter has been met with widespread acclaim for its genre-blending brilliance and all-star collaborations, making it a strong contender for the award that has eluded her despite her record 32 Grammy wins.

Joining the mix are Sabrina Carpenter (Short n’ Sweet), Chappell Roan (The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess), and Charli XCX (Brat), all of whom delivered career-defining projects in 2024. Their albums were not only critically praised but also fueled by massive viral moments, cementing them as some of pop’s most exciting new forces.

Billie Eilish (Hit Me Hard and Soft), André 3000 (New Blue Sun), and Jacob Collier (Djesse Vol. 4) round out the nominees, each bringing a distinct artistic vision to the table. Eilish, a past AOTY winner, is always a strong Grammy contender, while André 3000’s avant-garde instrumental album and Collier’s ambitious jazz fusion project make this one of the most stylistically diverse fields in years.

With no clear favourite, this year’s Album of the Year race is up for grabs. Who do you think should take home the trophy?
