Beyoncé Pauses "Cowboy Carter" Show for Emotional Onstage Gender Reveal

The Grammy winner spotted a fan’s request mid-performance and returned later with a heartfelt surprise

During the fourth New York-area stop of her Cowboy Carter & The Rodeo Chitlin’ Circuit Tour, Beyoncé took a brief pause from her monumental set to deliver a moment fans will likely never forget: a gender reveal, live onstage.

Performing at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford on May 28, Beyoncé noticed a sign in the crowd early in the night. It was a request from a fan asking her to reveal the gender of their baby. “I'll be back. I'm going to do it later,” she told the audience.

And true to her word, she returned. Near the end of the show, Beyoncé made her way back to the fan, saying, “I didn’t want to rush this, because this is important. A once-in-a-lifetime gender reveal. I had to take my time.”

She carefully opened an envelope, looked at the paper, and turned to the crowd with a warm smile: “It’s a boy.” The stadium erupted in cheers.

This moment capped a night already filled with powerful performances and emotional resonance, continuing a tour that has blended country roots with bold statements on culture, music history, and genre boundaries. Beyoncé has now performed four out of five scheduled shows in the New York area, with the final MetLife Stadium date set for May 29.

The Cowboy Carter tour, launched in Los Angeles on April 28, celebrates Beyoncé’s record-breaking country album and her historic win as the first Black woman to take home the Grammy for Best Country Album. The tour will wrap on July 26 in Las Vegas after a run across the U.S. and Europe.
