Beyoncé’s bond with her fans is unlike any other, and during her recent Cowboy Carter stop in Washington, D.C., she made sure to honour one of the Hive’s most beloved figures: Anthony Cosby-Knowles.

Cosby-Knowles rose to viral fame years ago during a memorable moment in which Beyoncé read his driver’s license and joked they might be related after spotting her last name. Without missing a beat, he declared, “I’m your husband! I took your name!” before launching into an impromptu “Say My Name” performance. The clip not only gained traction online but was also featured in Beyoncé’s I Am… World Tour DVD, solidifying his fan legend status.

Now, years later, the icon herself proved she never forgets a face. During her D.C. performance, she paused to acknowledge Cosby-Knowles in the crowd, saying:
“Come on Anthony. I see you, cousin. Husband.”
The light-hearted shoutout was a nod to their history, much to the joy of fans, including Beyoncé’s own mother, Tina Knowles, who reposted the moment with the caption:
“Well!! My imagination son-in-law finally showed up again (last night).”

Cosby-Knowles has been spotted at both the Renaissance and Cowboy Carter tours, and his consistent presence has earned him the unofficial title of “Hive founding father” among fans.

Beyoncé has long been known for her razor-sharp memory when it comes to her fanbase. Earlier this year, she recognized TikTok creator Jools LeBron, whose “very demure” viral moment made waves, and included the reference during a performance. According to Tina Knowles’ memoir Matriarch, it was Solange who first introduced the clip to the family while supporting her mother through a breast cancer scare.

These moments add to the growing folklore surrounding Beyoncé’s uncanny ability to remember, and celebrate, the fans who show up for her, time and time again.
