The 2025 BRIT Awards belonged to Charli XCX. The pop provocateur took home five trophies, including Album of the Year for her wildly influential Brat, which has not only soundtracked an era but practically defined a cultural movement. She also won Artist of the Year, Song of the Year for Guess (featuring Billie Eilish), Dance Act, and Songwriter of the Year, making her the biggest winner of the night.

In her acceptance speech for Album of the Year, Charli reflected on her journey, saying, “I’ve always felt like an outsider... So it feels really nice to be recognized on this album, when I haven’t made any sacrifices.” She encouraged other artists to stay true to their vision, a fitting message for an artist who has reshaped the pop landscape on her own terms.

Producer AG Cook, the sonic architect behind Brat, was named Producer of the Year, further cementing the album’s impact.

History was also made as Ezra Collective became the first-ever jazz group to win British Group, triumphing over major names like Coldplay and The Cure. The London-based quintet, known for their electrifying fusion of jazz, hip-hop, and Afrobeat, used their moment to advocate for better music education and youth programs, with bandleader Femi Koleoso emphasizing, “The solution lies in giving a young person a trumpet, a saxophone—because when you do that, you give them an aspiration.”

Meanwhile, The Last Dinner Party, who won Rising Star last year, continued their ascent by taking home Best New Artist. Their flamboyant take on classic rock and alternative pop has solidified them as one of the UK’s most thrilling live acts.

Elsewhere, Sam Fender secured Rock/Alternative Act for the second time, Jade (formerly of Little Mix) won Pop Act, and Raye followed up last year’s record-breaking BRITs night with another win in the R&B Act category. Stormzy’s win for Hip-Hop/Grime/Rap Act sparked some conversation, as he himself admitted Central Cee was the real Rap Artist of the Year in his acceptance speech.

Internationally, Chappell Roan had a standout night, winning both International Artist and International Song for Good Luck, Babe!, dedicating her win to “trans artists, drag queens, fashion students, sex workers, and Sinéad O’Connor.”

And of course, Sabrina Carpenter, the unstoppable force of pop, took home the Global Success Award after dominating UK charts with three No. 1 singles and a No. 1 album. She accepted with a cheeky nod to her hit Espresso, telling the crowd, “In a primarily tea-drinking country, you’ve streamed the sh*t out of Espresso… cheerio!”
