Chris Brown Arrested in the UK Over 2023 Bottle Attack Allegation

Chris Brown has been arrested in the United Kingdom in connection with a 2023 nightclub incident that allegedly left music producer Abe Diaw seriously injured.

The 36-year-old R&B artist was taken into custody during the early hours of Thursday, May 15, at a hotel in Manchester. The arrest comes as part of an ongoing investigation by the Metropolitan Police into a reported altercation at Tape nightclub in London’s Mayfair district on February 19, 2023.

Authorities confirmed that Brown is being held on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH). “A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May,” said a spokesperson for the Met Police. “He has been taken into custody where he remains. The investigation is being led by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit.”

The Sun reports that the arrest was prompted after the publication learned of Brown’s presence in the UK and contacted law enforcement. According to previous statements made by Diaw, he claimed Brown struck him with a bottle, then punched and kicked him while he was on the ground, resulting in hospitalization and the use of crutches.

Chris Brown, known for hits like Run It!, Under the Influence, and No Air, is currently on tour and scheduled to perform across the UK in June and July. His team has yet to comment on the arrest.
