The Hollywood Bowl has unveiled its star-studded 2025 summer season, and one casting choice is already sparking conversation. Cynthia Erivo, the Oscar-nominated actress and powerhouse vocalist, will take on the role of Jesus in the venue’s annual production of Jesus Christ Superstar on August 2 and 3.

Erivo, who previously played Mary Magdalene on the She Is Risen concept album, will now step into the lead role in the Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musical.
