Doechii Sparks Pre-Met Gala Chaos Over Umbrella Mishap

Just hours before her official Met Gala debut, Doechii unintentionally stole the spotlight without stepping onto the red carpet.

The rising rapper was caught in a now-viral video outside The Mark Hotel, where she could be seen expressing visible frustration as her team scrambled to shield her Met Gala look. To keep her outfit under wraps until showtime, Doechii asked her team to use umbrellas and clothing racks as cover, but the plan didn’t go as smoothly as hoped.

“I need more f—— umbrellas,” she yelled, hidden behind fabric and flanked by staff trying to shield her from public view. Bystanders watched as the commotion unfolded outside the hotel, a go-to launch point for Met Gala attendees.

The drama didn’t seem to faze her for long. Doechii later arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a Louis Vuitton ensemble designed by Pharrell Williams. The look, which featured a checkered blazer with coattails, tailored trouser shorts, and a tiny monogrammed Speedy bag, channelled both streetwear and high fashion. She accessorised with a cigar and wore a voluminous Afro in line with the theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”

Post-event, Doechii described the look to People as a “stylish and gangster” blend of masculine and feminine energy. Leading up to the night, she also paid homage to André Leon Talley by recreating one of his iconic tennis-inspired fashion looks.

She wasn’t the only star to face a pre-gala glitch: Kim Kardashian’s security guard tripped over her dress, and Sabrina Carpenter visibly reacted when her gown was stepped on.
