Jay-Z is taking legal action against his accuser after an explosive new development in the now-dismissed sexual assault lawsuit against him. The accuser, identified as Jane Doe, had previously alleged that Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs assaulted her following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards when she was 13 years old. However, the case was voluntarily dismissed in February, and now, newly surfaced audio recordings have raised questions about the credibility of the allegations.
According to Jay-Z’s attorney, Alex Spiro, the accuser admitted on tape that the rapper had no involvement in any assault and that she was pressured by her lawyer, Tony Buzbee, to include him in the lawsuit. "She says in no uncertain terms, Mr. Carter did not do this," Spiro told Good Morning America, emphasizing that the accusations were baseless.
However, Buzbee has vehemently denied these claims, calling the recordings a “blatant lie” and insisting that Doe never retracted her allegations. He has accused Jay-Z’s team of intimidating his client into recanting her story.
Jay-Z, who has now filed a defamation lawsuit against Doe and her attorneys, issued a statement after the lawsuit against him was dismissed. “Today is a victory,” he said, calling the allegations “frivolous” and “fictitious.” The rapper also addressed the personal toll the accusations took on him and his family, saying, “The trauma that my wife, my children, my loved ones and I have endured can never be dismissed.”
Sources close to Jay-Z have stated that his wife, Beyoncé, and their children were deeply affected by the allegations. “He has a daughter the same age as Jane Doe,” a source told Fox News Digital, explaining the emotional weight of the situation.
With the legal battle now shifting to defamation, Jay-Z’s team is making it clear that he intends to hold those responsible accountable. “False accusations shouldn’t go unchallenged,” Spiro stated, reinforcing that his client will continue to fight for his reputation.
