Jessie J is back where she belongs, on stage. On September 7, the “Price Tag” hitmaker performed at BBC Radio 2 In The Park, marking her first live set since undergoing breast cancer surgery in June.

Addressing the crowd, Jessie reflected on the uncertainty she faced during her recovery. “The last show I did, I had no idea what was gonna happen, and I’m still very much in the recovery process,” she told fans. “But I’m just so grateful to be here.”

The singer went on to share her gratitude for her supporters, saying, “You have no idea how grateful I am to see so many of you singing along after all these years. It truly feels like I’m a little kid, still doing what I love.”

Jessie also used the moment to explain the story behind her latest single, Living My Best Life. “I was diagnosed literally two weeks before this song was released. Everyone said, ‘Let’s stop, let’s just put everything on hold.’ I said, ‘That’s not what life’s about. Life is about standing in the storm but holding up your umbrella and just keep moving forward.’”

She added, “Music is a healer. It keeps me wanting to wake up in the morning and makes me excited about life. I’m grateful that I can make music that can give other people something they might need, on a hard day or a good day.”

Closing the performance with the message of her song, Jessie told the audience: “This is called Living My Best Life, and that is what I’m doing every single day. We never know when our last day will be, so soak this up, hug the people you love hard.”

The night was even more meaningful as it was the first time Jessie’s 2-year-old son, Sky, saw her perform in front of a crowd.

Jessie announced her cancer diagnosis in June, shortly before canceling her tour dates to undergo treatment. She later revealed she needed a second surgery, but doctors confirmed the cancer had not spread.

Despite the challenges, Jessie is pushing forward with resilience. As she told fans: “I need to be healed, and I know this is the right decision to make.”
