Jessie J has announced she’s been diagnosed with early breast cancer. The Price Tag hitmaker shared the news in an emotional Instagram video, opening up about her recent health journey and decision to go public with the diagnosis.

“I was diagnosed with early breast cancer,” she said. “Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word ‘early’.”

Jessie, 37, said she’ll undergo surgery shortly after her upcoming performance at Capital’s Summertime Ball on June 15. In the video, she approached the subject with honesty and humor, saying, “It’s a very dramatic way to get a boob job,” before adding that she plans to “come back with massive tits and more music.”

She emphasized the importance of sharing her story, both as a way to process the news and to connect with others who may be going through similar experiences. “I just wanted to be open and share it,” she said. “I’m not processing it because I’m working so hard… I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me, with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories.”

Jessie J, born Jessica Cornish, has faced several health challenges in the past. She was diagnosed with a heart condition at age eight, suffered a minor stroke at 18, and briefly lost her hearing in 2020. She also experienced a miscarriage in 2021 before welcoming her son, Sky Safir Cornish Colman, in 2023.

In her message to fans, she said she plans to step away for a while after the Summertime Ball, asking for space, understanding, and — simply — a hug.
