Justin Bieber is switching things up online. On Thursday, June 26, the singer updated his Instagram handle from @justinbieber to the more casual @lilbieber, marking a notable shift in his public-facing persona. The change wasn’t officially announced, but fans quickly noticed the update as Bieber continued posting a flurry of photos, 12 posts in a single day, including new glimpses into his life as a father.
Among Thursday’s posts was a sweet photo carousel featuring his son, Jack Blues, who was born in August 2024. In the photos, Jack sits inside a cardboard box filled with ball pit balls, as Bieber kneels beside him. The post was captioned simply with three “🧍♂️” emojis.
In recent weeks, Bieber has offered more frequent and more intimate snapshots of family life. On June 24, he shared a black-and-white photo of Jack. On Father’s Day, June 15, he posted a heartwarming image of his wife Hailey and Jack playing piano, along with another of himself holding their son.
However, not all of Bieber’s posts have centered on fatherhood. Over the past month, he’s also used Instagram to reflect on emotional challenges and cryptic thoughts. On June 11, he posted a black-and-white selfie with the caption: “The secret in life is forgiveness,” paired with The Little Dippers’ song “Forever.” That same day, he posted a carousel of six blurry selfies, a mix of kissy faces and shirtless shots.
Days later, Bieber posted screenshots of a text exchange with a friend he said he decided to cut off. In the messages, Bieber defended his emotional expression, writing: “My anger is a response to pain I have been through.” He added: “Asking a traumatized person not to be traumatized is simply mean.”
On June 16, he addressed unsolicited mental health advice, writing:
“People keep telling me to heal. Don’t you think if I could have fixed myself, I would have already?”
“The harder I try to grow,” he added, “the more focused on myself I am.”
The recent flood of deeply personal content, combined with the username change, suggests Bieber may be entering a new phase of expression. Whether it signals a wider rebranding or simply a more raw, transparent approach remains to be seen.
