Katy Perry has cancelled the first two dates of her Lifetimes Tour in Guadalajara, citing safety concerns and construction delays at the venue. The pop star, who is set to launch her tour on April 23 in Mexico City, addressed fans via Instagram, expressing disappointment and frustration over the situation.
"Sadly, I learned that the construction of Arena Guadalajara will not be complete for their scheduled shows next week, which includes mine on May 1 and 2," Perry wrote. She also noted that her team members visited the site in hopes of finding a workaround, but determined the arena was “not ready or safe to receive my show or an audience.”
While she emphasised that the issue was out of her control, Perry assured fans in Guadalajara that she’s thinking about “how I can create something special” for them in the future.
This marks another bump in the road for the singer, who has recently faced backlash over her upcoming participation in a Blue Origin space flight. Despite the setbacks, Perry has continued building excitement for her tour online, sharing visuals and sneak peeks to give fans a taste of what’s to come.
Other artists, including Carlos Rivera and Intocable, have also had to cancel shows due to the unfinished venue.
