Katy Perry's time as a Las Vegas headliner may have ended on a sour note. According to a report by NewsNation, the pop star is allegedly not being welcomed back to the city following a disappointing run of her “Katy Perry: PLAY” residency at Resorts World Las Vegas.

A source familiar with the situation described the residency as a “complete failure,” noting that Resorts World, which had outbid Caesars to secure Perry’s shows, ultimately ended up losing money. “Katy was getting paid between $750,000 and $900,000 a show because of the bidding war,” the source said. “And the entire run underperformed.”

The residency, which spanned from 2021 to 2023, was Perry’s first major foray into Vegas entertainment. Though she had previously expressed a desire to continue performing in the city long-term, insiders now suggest that may no longer be an option.

Adding to the recent challenges in Perry’s career, her 2024 album 143 dropped off the charts after just two weeks. Meanwhile, her planned “Lifetimes” tour has reportedly struggled with slow ticket sales, following backlash over her much-publicized zero-gravity space experience in April.

Despite the setbacks, Perry had voiced her fondness for Vegas in past interviews, calling it a “touchstone” and saying she envisioned returning for future residencies. At this time, her representatives have not responded to requests for comment.
