Kelly Clarkson may be ready to walk away from The Kelly Clarkson Show. According to multiple reports, the singer and host is considering stepping down when her contract expires next year, as she looks to spend more time with her two children, River Rose (10) and Remy (8).
Clarkson, who has hosted the daytime talk show since 2019, took a nearly two-week break from the show last month for undisclosed personal reasons. While she returned to celebrate the show’s 1,000th episode, sources claim she is seriously contemplating stepping away from her hosting duties.
“Kelly’s number one priority is her children, and they always will be,” an industry source shared, adding that the demanding nature of a daily talk show has taken its toll.
NBC, however, is reportedly eager to keep Clarkson within the network. While The Kelly Clarkson Show remains a strong performer in daytime television, the production costs are high, and executives are looking for ways to keep the Stronger singer on board in some capacity—possibly through hosting special events like Christmas in Rockefeller Center.
Clarkson has not publicly addressed the reports, and NBC has yet to comment. However, in a recent heartfelt moment on her show, she reflected on the challenges she has faced over the last six years, telling her audience, “I’ve lost, alone, a lot.”
With her future on daytime TV uncertain, one thing remains clear: Kelly Clarkson’s next move will be on her own terms.
