Maluma Calls Out Parent for Bringing Baby to Concert

Maluma paused his concert in Mexico City over the weekend to address a parent who had brought a one-year-old child to the show. The Colombian singer-songwriter, currently on his +Pretty +Dirty World Tour, spoke directly to the adult in the audience after spotting the baby.

“Do you think it’s a good idea to bring a 1-year-old baby to a concert where the decibels are through the roof, where the sound is blasting?” Maluma said in Spanish, according to a video circulating on social media. “Next time, protect their ears.”

The 31-year-old performer, who welcomed a daughter with his girlfriend, Susana Gomez, last year, continued his message with a firm yet measured tone. “You’re swinging him around like he’s a toy. That child doesn’t want to be here,” he added. “I say this with all care and with all respect, since I’m a dad. I would never have brought a 1-year-old to a concert. So next time, be a bit more mindful.”

The incident highlights a wider debate about children at live shows. While promoters and venues often have guidelines, there are rarely strict rules about the minimum age for attendance. Palacio de los Deportes, where Maluma performed, does not appear to have specific restrictions for children.

Maluma’s +Pretty +Dirty World Tour continues through August 16 in Mexico before wrapping up August 23 in San Salvador.
