At the iconic Glastonbury Festival on Friday night, Matty Healy, lead singer of The 1975, made a statement that caught the attention of many, and stirred speculation around his former relationship with pop superstar Taylor Swift.

Raising a beer glass during his set at Worthy Farm, Healy declared, “I probably am the best. I’m probably the best songwriter of my generation,” adding, “A POET — ladies and gentlemen, is what I am.”

While Healy did not mention Swift by name, many fans interpreted the remarks as a pointed response to Swift’s 2024 album, The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD). This album reportedly features several tracks believed to reference Healy and their brief but public romance earlier this year.

The two dated from May to June 2023, following Swift’s split from Joe Alwyn, and were often seen together at concerts and in New York City. Their relationship was characterized by both public affection and intense media scrutiny.

Upon TTPD’s release in April 2024, insiders suggested that several songs, including “Guilty As Sin” and “I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can),” contained veiled nods to Healy. According to sources, Healy was reportedly taken aback by the album’s content.

Since their breakup, Swift has moved forward with boyfriend Travis Kelce, while Healy became engaged to model Gabbriette Bechtel in June 2024.

As the musical and personal narratives intertwine, Healy’s Glastonbury moment adds another layer of intrigue to this ongoing story between two of today’s most talked-about artists.
