Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry are reportedly facing a rough patch in their relationship, and sources close to the couple suggest a recent point of tension was Perry’s all-female space flight with Blue Origin in April.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star was allegedly “frustrated” and “disappointed” that Perry moved forward with the mission, despite his belief that the trip wasn’t a good idea. According to a source who spoke to The U.S. Sun, Bloom “didn’t approve” of the endeavor and warned she would face public backlash, a prediction that ultimately came true.
Perry’s participation in the short suborbital flight, alongside Lauren Sánchez, Gayle King, and others, sparked mixed reactions. Some critics, including public figures like Emily Ratajkowski and Olivia Munn, questioned the environmental impact and optics of the mission, calling it “parody” and “tone-deaf.”
Despite Perry’s comments in a radio interview suggesting Bloom was supportive, insiders say the actor felt unheard. “He has been frustrated that his opinion is not being taken seriously,” one source said. “He feels she is a different person lately.”
Reports now indicate that the couple, who share a daughter and have been engaged since 2019, are leading “separate lives.” Bloom appeared solo at the Deep Cover premiere during the Tribeca Festival on June 10, further fueling speculation.
There are also rumors that the couple is planning to go their separate ways after Perry wraps her Lifetimes world tour in December. Sources suggest the underwhelming reception to Perry’s recent album 143, and the stress that followed, has only added to the strain between them.
While neither party has confirmed a breakup, the signs of distance are growing more public, marking yet another chapter in a relationship that has weathered its share of ups and downs.
