Taylor Swift Removed from Legal Battle Between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni

Taylor Swift will not be involved in the ongoing legal dispute between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, after a subpoena for the singer was officially withdrawn. Baldoni, who co-starred with Lively in the 2024 film It Ends With Us, is currently facing a lawsuit from Lively, who has accused him of sexual harassment and retaliation.

Baldoni’s legal team initially attempted to subpoena Swift and her attorneys in an effort to obtain communications between the singer and Lively’s representatives. However, Swift’s legal team swiftly objected, describing the move as an “unwarranted fishing expedition,” according to Variety. The subpoena has since been dropped.

A spokesperson for Lively expressed support for Swift’s team, saying, “We supported the efforts of Taylor's team to quash these inappropriate subpoenas directed to her counsel, and we will continue to stand up for any third party who is unjustly harassed or threatened in the process.”

Earlier this month, Swift’s camp described the attempt to involve her in the legal case as “tabloid clickbait.” Baldoni’s team had previously alleged that Swift was involved in pressuring him during script discussions in 2023, citing a meeting at Lively’s home attended by Swift and Ryan Reynolds. Swift's representatives denied any creative involvement with the film, stating she “never saw an edit or made any notes.”

Variety also reported that Baldoni's legal team was attempting to gather communications involving allegations that Lively’s camp had threatened to release old messages unless Swift publicly supported her. Lively’s team denied that claim as “unequivocally and demonstrably false.”

In a final statement, Lively’s spokesperson criticized Baldoni’s team, saying: “They have tried to put Taylor Swift... at the center of this case since day one. Faced with having to justify themselves in federal court, they folded.”

The legal battle between Lively and Baldoni continues, with Baldoni counter-suing Lively and Ryan Reynolds for defamation, civil extortion, and invasion of privacy.
